Are you someone who would like to feel better about their health and themselves? Someone who would like to be active in a fun and social environment in small groups?
Social Spin might be the program for you. Social Spin is outdoors from the 1st of September until 31st of May and we run an indoor Winter program at Darebin International Sports Centre in July and August. The classes are low intensity and specifically designed for women who want to get more active.
Each program runs in one location between 6 and 12 weeks and finishes with a basic skills session and short bike ride on bike paths in the direct area for those interested. You can bring your own bike for the skills session or you can use the Social Spin bikes. No commitment is required. You can purchase passes for one class or in multiples of five or ten.
The classes are held in parks and gardens that offer ample parking facilities. We use comfortable ‘Specialized’ women bicycles secured on a stationary trainer. We endeavour to run the classes in areas protected from the sun, rain and wind. Classes have a maximum of 10 participants so our instructors know who you are and can cater to your needs.
We offer passes for 1 class, 5 classes or 10 classes. For more information in regards to the price, please go to the registration page and select the location that you’re interested in.
All equipment for classes is provided; bike & trainer. No need for a helmet as we are not going anywhere! You just need to bring a bottle of water, comfortable clothes and shoes to exercise in, a towel and a smile!
When you arrive you will be greeted by your friendly instructor and they will set you up on a bike that is comfortable and the right size for you.
This class is suitable for women who have not done any form of exercise over the last 12months. Level 1 goes for 30 minutes and incorporates a mixture of exercises, stretching and short 5 minute periods on the bike. This class is low intensity.
This class is suitable for women who participate in some form of light exercise, such as walking, riding or swimming once a month, with little other exercise. Level 2 goes for 45 minutes and includes 7 minute periods on the bike with stretches and exercises in between. Intensity at this level will vary between low and medium.
This class is suitable for women who participate in some form of light exercise such as walking, riding or swimming once a week, with little other exercise. Level 3 goes for 45 minutes and includes 10 minute periods of continuous riding and introduces some cycling awareness. Intensity at level three is low to medium.
All our classes should be obvious to see on arrival by the bikes arranged ready to get on, as well as signage prompting you to the area.
